Courageous Advocacy

Our school council has chosen to organise recycling throughout the school.  Our children are concerned about climate change and the wastefulness of sending materials to landfill.  We have sourced recycling bins and are in the process of implementing the collection of recylable materials in each year group and communal areas.

Our Year 5 children wanted to do some community outreach in local care homes.  Children have links with local care homes both through having elderly relatives as residents and because several parents work in local care homes.  Mr Bonell and Mrs Edwards take twenty children (in two groups of ten) to St. Michael's Care Home each week to read and play games with residents.  This has been a lovely opportunity to practise reading and social skills and care home staff report that this has proved very popular with residents.
