  • Religious Education

Religious Education (RE) is an important part of learning at St Saviour's Church of England Junior School.

As a Church of England school, our Christian foundation shapes our approach to RE. We want children to develop a secure understanding of Christianity while also learning about other religions and world-views.

At St Saviour's, we follow the Kent Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, using Understanding Christianity as a resource to support teaching and learning.

Through RE, children explore important questions about faith, beliefs, values and the world around them. We encourage curiosity, thoughtful discussion and respect for different perspectives, helping children develop their own understanding while appreciating the beliefs and experiences of others.

Our approach reflects our Christian values of Community, Consideration and Courage, encouraging children to listen carefully, ask questions and treat others with kindness and respect.

    RE Curriculum Overview

Our RE curriculum introduces children to Christianity and a range of other religions and world-views throughout Years 3–6.

Please see the overview below for further information about the themes and questions covered in each year group.

    Right of Withdrawal

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education.

We encourage families considering withdrawal to contact the Headteacher so that we can explain our RE curriculum, answer any questions and discuss appropriate arrangements.

Parents and carers are not required to give a reason for requesting withdrawal, and the school will respect their decision.
