Playground Leaders
The aim of the Playground Leaders Scheme is to introduce and develop leadership skills in Upper KS2 children by training them and getting them to organise a range of activities for all children in the playground. The main aim of this scheme is to increase the amount of physical activity undertaken during playtime. It is hoped that there will be a whole school impact in terms of children’s behaviour both at lunchtime and in afternoon lessons. The scheme also aims to raise self-esteem and self-confidence of the leaders.
Each new term the Playground Leaders will meet with the PE Leader to determine ways to increase participation and enjoyment through sport during playtimes. The leaders are made up of pupils from Year 6 and includes those who take part in school sports and those who have not engaged with sport traditionally.
